Overview

The Consotrium for Applied Research in Economics (CARE) facilitates research in applied microeconomics, particularly as that relating to public policy. CARE expertise include:

  • Labor Economics
  • Environmental Economics
  • Government Policy Relating to Taxes and Expenditures
  • Gender and Family Economics
  • Health Economics
  • Applied Econometric Methods

The CARE center organizes a weekly seminar series for outside researchers to present their research, an internal weekly applied workshop mainly for UCSB graduate students and faculty, reading groups on specialized topics (e.g. health economics), occasional conferences, and undergraduate research assistant traineeships.

CARE members often have overlapping interests with other entities on campus, including the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and the Broom Center for Demography.
