Professor Rod Garratt Receives Best Cryptoeconomics Paper Award at Toronto Fintech Conference

Professor Rod Garratt received an award for his paper, "Why Fixed Costs Matter for Proof-of-Work Based Cryptocurriencies."

Professor Rod Garratt received the award for Best Cryptoeconomics Paper at the 2020 Toronto Fintech Conference.

Professor Garratt's paper, "Why Fixed Costs Matter for Proof-of-Work Based Cryptocurrencies," focuses on the security of Bitcoin transactions. Garratt proposes that mining some cryptocrurrencies require investment in protection methods, such as specialized computing hardware.
