Professor Rod Garratt coauthored an article on user privacy and digital currency, which was published on Monday in Liberty Street Economics.

The article, "Monetizing Privacy with Central Bank Digital Currencies," is the second work Garratt has published with Liberty Street Economics, continuing research from his previous article, "COVID-19 and the Search for Digital Alternatives to Cash."

Garratt and his coauthor, Michael Lee from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, discuss the benefits and consequences of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) that preserves users' privacy.
