Position Description
The Department of Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023. The appointment is at the security-of-employment-track assistant teaching professor level. The Department is looking for individuals with experience in, or strong potential for, teaching Economics at the introductory undergraduate level, as well as for contributing to the curriculum and pedagogy of the Department.
Responsibilities of teaching-track faculty include teaching and teaching-related tasks for lower- and upper-division undergraduate courses; mentorship of undergraduate students, including supervision of capstone projects; professional and/or scholarly achievement and creative activity, particularly relating to instruction and pedagogy; and participation in university service. Faculty in this title are members of the Academic Senate, with benefits and privileges that parallel the professor track. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service as appropriate to the position.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application): At the time of application, applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD in Economics, or a closely related field, except the dissertation. Candidates must also have a demonstrated record of teaching, as evidenced by teaching at least one undergrad section and/or one undergrad course.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start): It is expected that the degree requirement will be fulfilled by the anticipated start date.
Preferred qualifications: A proven record of teaching excellence, successful course design, undergraduate advising, pedagogical innovation, and team management.
