ANNOUNCEMENTS
March
19: Grades have been posted. Remember that the only way I will change
grades is due to an error in grading. Minimum
percentage required for the following grades:
A+ 97
A 92
A- 89
B+ 85
B 76
B- 73
C+ 70
C 53
C- 51
D+ 49
D 47
D- 45
As
for the scores on Test 3, nobody got all 39 points correct. The best score was 38, while the second best
was 37. So I counted 100% as out of
37. For example, anybody that got a 32
would receive 32/37, or 86.5%, on the test.
March
18: Solution sketches for the final can
be found from a link on the bottom of the page.
Grades will likely be posted tomorrow.
I do not respond to grade requests by e-mail. Please check on GOLD for your grade.
March
12: Rosemarie’s office hour for next
week will be Monday from 5-6 pm.
March
11: Office hours for next week will be
Monday from 10-11 am and 12:30-1:30 pm.
March
4: I am providing two sets of
supplemental slides. The first set on
the LUPI, Nim, and Half the average games can be found here. I am also providing a problem that I plan on
discussing on Friday the 13th.
You may find this problem useful in studying for the final. The slides for this problem can be found here.
February
25: Part of the solution sketch of
Practice Problem 24 is incorrect. Two of
the sentences should read as follows: Here, the CS is a triangle with height 9 and length 9,
leading to CS of 40.5. PS is a triangle
with height 3 and length 1.5, leading to PS of 2.25.
February
23: I will have an additional office
hour on Monday, March 2, from 8:30-9:30 am.
February
13: Since next week has a holiday, my
office hours on Wednesday, Feb. 18, will be from 2:15-4:15. I will not have office hours on Monday the 16th.
February
6: The lecture for February 18 has been
updated, with additional slides added.
February
4: There is a correction to today’s
lecture. In one of the problems, $1,210
should have been $12,100. I have posted
the corrected slide at the beginning of Friday’s lecture slides.
January
29: If you have not received extra
credit for asking a question in class (or participated in the human
supply/demand activity), you will need to give me your name if you ask a
question.
January 28: Reminder on calculators… Only four-function and scientific calculators
are allowed on the tests. Also, the
calculator cannot be programmable and it cannot be a communication device. If you have any questions about this, please
come to office hours before the test.
January 20: For the week of your first test, office hours
will be on Monday, February 9, from 8:30-9:30 am and 12:30-1:30 pm. Note that there will not be office hours on
Wednesday, February 11.
January 15: Sorry for missing lecture yesterday. I do plan on being at Friday’s lecture, and I
will have an office hour Friday (this week only) from 12:30-1:30 pm. Also, there are now practice problems posted
below.
