Professor Clément de Chaisemartin publishes "BCG vaccination in infancy does not protect against COVID-19. Evidence from a natural experiment in Sweden, in Clinical Infectious Diseases, the journal of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

The paper uses Sweden's interruption of its newborn BCG vaccination program on April 1st 1975 to study the protective effect of this vaccine against Covid-19, using a Regression Discontinuity design. Unfortunately, the paper finds a precisely estimated 0 effect. Thus, differences in BCG vaccination policies are unlikely to account for differences in Covid-19 oucomes across countries, contrary to what previous research had hypothesized.
