The UCSB Economics Department is very happy to be joined by three new faculty in July:   Youssef Benzarti, Erik Eyster and Alisa Tazhitdinova.

Erik Eyster will join us from the London School of Economics as a Full Professor and the Alec P. Alexander Chair of Economics.   Professor Eyster is an economic theorist who specializes in studying how possibly incorrect beliefs shape strategic interaction in a wide variety of arenas.  His work has been published in journals such as Econometrica, the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the Review of Economic Studies.

Youssef Benzarti will join us from the University of California, Los Angeles where he is currently an assistant professor.  Professor Benzarti's research is focused on public finance and behavioral economics and he has recently done work studying how firms respond to tax cuts and the costs tax filers face in complying with tax filing laws.

Alisa Tazhitdinova will join us from McMaster University where she is currently an assistant professor.  Professor Tazhitdinova's research areas include public economics and labor economics, and her recent research has studied tax evasion and labor supply responses to changes in taxes.
