Kuhn Textbook

This week, Oxford University Press published the first edition of Professor Peter Kuhn's textbook, Personnel Economics.  Based on an advanced undergraduate course Kuhn developed at UCSB, personnel economics applies economic theory and empirical analysis to employers' human resource decisions.  

Given the centrality of the workplace to most adults' daily lives, most of us --whether as workers or managers--  can benefit from thinking strategically about the three main questions in personnel economics:  employee motivation, compensation, and selection.  To study these questions, the text uses simple but formal economic models, combined with evidence from a wide range of real workplaces. As a field, personnel economics is expanding rapidly, and this new text provides an up-to-date treatment, written in an informal, engaging style.
