Changing Your Economics Passwords

You must change your password in TWO or THREE PLACES (depending on if you have an @econ.ucsb.edu e-mail account). It is recommended, for simplicity sake, that you use the same password for Econ, Windows and E-mail.

Changing your Windows (Windows/Grad Lab login, H: drive, etc.) Password

For a Windows XP on the ECON-DOMAIN

1. Login to an ECON-DOMAIN computer (such as the Grad Lab computers for grads and the computer in North Hall 3012 for faculty and visitors.)
2. Simultaneously hit the "Control", "Alt", and "Delete" keys after logging in using your username and current password. (If you don't know your current password, see the steps for SCP password changing below.)
3. Click on the button "Change Password".
4. Type in your Old password in the appropriate field.
5. Before hitting the enter key, type your new password in the TWO boxes marked "New Password" and "Confirm New Password".
6. Hit the enter key. You're done!

Changing Your Econ (SCP/secure file transfer) Password

This password can currently only be changed by the department Systems Administrator. If you need to change this password, come by the SA's office, North Hall 3013, with a photo ID and he can help you change all two or three passwords.

Changing Your <username>@econ.ucsb.edu (e-mail) Password

1. Log into your Webmail at: http://webmail.ic.ucsb.edu/
2. On the left hand side of the screen (you may have to scroll down the left side of the screen to see this, below your mail folders), select Account Tools.
3. Click the Change Password button.
4. Enter your current password, then the new password you want twice, then click Change Password. (If you don't know your current @econ.ucsb.edu, see the section on changing your SCP password above.)
5. Click Submi
