The Economic Club of Santa Barbara is hosting Professor Rodney Garratt, a former VP of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, for a discussion about the government response to the financial crash of 2008. Professor Garratt will talk about what happened after the financial crisis, and how the Federal Reserve acted in order to get the U.S. economy back on its feet through their use of monetary policy.
Professor Garratt holds the Maxwell C. and Mary Pellish Chair in Economics at the University of California Santa Barbara. He is a theorist who specializes in applied game theory. He is known for his work on strategic incentives in payment systems and has consulted on payment systems for the Bank of Canada, Payments Canada, the Bank of England, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, De Nederlandsche Bank and the Central Bank of Serbia. He was a Research Advisor at the Bank of England from 2009-2010 and was a Vice President in the Money and Payments Studies division of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2013-2015.
