The Southwest Economic Theory Conference is held
annually at one of nine participating
universities in Southern California and
Arizona. Participating institutions are:
This is an annual opportunity for economics
faculty and graduate students interested in pure
and applied economic theory to get together,
report on their recent work, and share
ideas. The meeting typically attracts about 40
out-of-town guests who are faculty or graduate
students at participating institutions. This is
a “freeway conference,” where most participants
come by automobile, however, conference
organizers will typically invite one or two
special guests from outside Southern California
to participate in the program. The 2008 annual
meeting, will be the tenth annual meeting of this
group. This is the second time that UCSB has
hosted these meetings. The first was in 1999.
