John Lynham

I’m a PhD Candidate in the Economics Department and a Masters student in the Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology Department at UCSB. I’m also a student in the Economics and Environmental Science IGERT program. My official training is in environmental and resource economics, econometrics and marine ecology.

I’m interested in lots of different research questions and usually let the question itself determine the best methodological approach. I believe that most environmental problems require an interdisciplinary understanding so I enjoy working with researchers from other disciplines.  For example, I’m working on information flows among fishermen from an empirical perspective, constructing a model of  income-targeting and evolution in fisheries with an oceanographer and examining hyperbolic discounting with field experiments.
